The Waupaca County Fair Celebrates Veterans & Active Duty Military

Thursday of the Fair

For Veterans, active duty and guest and spouse of deceased veterans


$3.00 PER PERSON - INCLUDES PICNIC LUNCH

 

Through the generosity of local sponsors, free tickets for entrance to the fair & the picnic lunch will be made available to Veterans, Active Duty Military and a guest. Tickets are available through the Waupaca County Veteran Service Office located on the third floor of the Waupaca County Court House, Waupaca (715) 258-6475. Please provide verification of service and a photo ID.

Those participating in the program and/or parade through the fair grounds, may get a special participant ticket from Veteran Service Office or at the gate if necessary.

Program

Waupaca County Veterans Service Office coordinates this yearly event, with a lot of help from Waupaca County Board members Kay Hillskotter (Waupaca Cty Fair Mgr.) & Dave Johnson. Thank you Kay & Dave!
PARADE:
11:15 — Assemble for Veteran Service Post Parade

Parade to start @ 11:30 AM,. Participants may park next to the cemetery across Elizabeth Street from fair grounds. Parade will form up on Elizabeth Street, south of the west entrance gate.

Following the parade, participants & guests will file into the beer stand shelter for the main program and picnic lunch.


PROGRAM:
Master of Ceremonies: Jon LiDonne, Waupaca County Veterans Service Officer
Presentation of Colors: New London American Legion Post 263
Opening Prayer: Rev. Gary L. Strike, Vietnam Navy veteran
Pledge of Allegiance: Grand Marshall, Dennis Miller, Vietnam Veteran and veteran’s advocate

Welcome Address: Dan Naylor, Wisconsin Board of Veteran Affairs and Vietnam era veteran.

Complimentary Picnic Lunch: To be served immediately following the closing prayer.
Grand Marshall Dennis Miller: Viet Nam veteran and veteran’s advocate from Iola. Dennis served in the Army in the 60’s in Viet Nam. A total of eight years of military service—6 of which were with the Green Berets. Currently belongs to Disabled American Veterans; Chapter 73 Special Forces Association; American Legion and VFW. Originally from Chicago, he has lived in the Iola area for the last ten years. Married with two sons. Dennis is being honored because of his dedication and devotion to helping fellow veterans receive benefits due them.

Please visit the “Wall of Honor” display on the 3rd floor of the Waupaca County Courthouse.
